BLOG 2 | Free a Girl
Free a Girl, a foundation that fights against the sexual exploitation of children.

As a child, I was always insecure; I wasn't seen or heard. I was that girl who always did her own thing, perhaps a bit invisible. I was bullied. Add an unstable home situation to that, and the result was poor self-esteem. I always felt alone, ashamed—a kind of inner loneliness. And yet, that little girl was the foundation for my search for happiness. In this blog, I’ll take you along with me.
At home, we didn't have much wealth. I looked different from the other kids. I smelled like my parents’ cigarette smoke, my hair was always poorly cut, and I didn't have nice clothes. Things often went poorly at school. I was bullied, and the teachers didn't take notice of me; I didn't stand out. And so, with good intentions, my parents kept moving me from school to school, and I would start over at a new one.
My own path
I was lucky enough to make connections quickly and always chose my own path. I saw habits or behaviors in classmates or friends that I didn't recognize from home, but which suited me. Looking back, was it perhaps mimicry, or was I manifesting it unconsciously? Let's call it a combination of both.
During puberty, the right people came into my life. Or, and I think this more and more often now, I let the right people come into my life. I made choices that suited me better. I grew, slowly felt stronger, and dared to be truly myself more and more. I became a young woman with my own style. If I think back now to that ‘little boy’ with the crooked haircut and stupid clothes, I never would have thought that I would be writing my second blog today.
Every girl deserves her own path
Unfortunately, not everyone gets the chance to choose their own path. Worldwide, 2 million children, primarily girls, are trapped in situations of sexual exploitation. They are kidnapped from buses, locked up, and exploited in brothels, massage parlors, or garages. These girls have no chance to create a future of their own through mimicry. These girls need help—from other women, from you, and from me—to be freed from this horrible situation.
Free a Girl Foundation
• Free a Girl strives for a world without the commercial sexual exploitation of children and young women.
• They work incredibly hard to free children and prosecute the perpetrators, including in the Netherlands.
• Since its founding, Free a Girl has been able to free more than 6,200 children in 6 countries!
La Luz supports Free a Girl.
My company, "The Light" in Spanish, was founded with the goal, among others, of helping women. I therefore want to reach as many women as possible with our products and our message. I want to give women more self-confidence with our bracelets featuring positive, motivational quotes and sweet texts. In addition, I feel a strong urge to do something for the world, which is why I support Free a Girl. For every bracelet sold, we donate €1.00 to this special foundation.
It is my hope that one day we can put an end to human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of children and young women. I wish them all the peace and love to get to know themselves, just as I did. Because every woman and every girl in the entire world deserves to live her most beautiful life.
Will you help me? Buy our bracelets and support Free a Girl.
Love, Vanes
