Living forward: on trust, obstacles, and giving yourself permission

Living forward: on trust, obstacles, and giving yourself permission
January 21, 2026

There are moments in life when you don't suddenly do everything differently,

but when you start to look at things differently.

That is what this new year brings for me.

After the passing of my mother, and my father before her, something in me has shifted.

Not abruptly. Not dramatically.

But slowly, layer by layer.

I am living more consciously.

I am feeling more.

And I am pausing more often.

But at the same time, something else has emerged.

A desire not just to carry, but to truly live.

Not just to keep going, but to enjoy what is already there.

To no longer wave away moments of success, but to let them in.

Even the small ones.

She believed she could, so she did

This phrase has been my anchor for years.

My affirmation for life.

And it still rings true.

Because believing that you can do something is often the first step.

But honestly?

I feel that I have reached the next layer by now.

Just f*cking do it

Not out of haste.

Not out of a need to prove myself.

But out of trust.

Less doubting.

Less waiting.

Less worrying about what others think.

More going for it.

More daring.

More living in the now.

More looking ahead, and less behind.

Because I know this for certain now:

people will have an opinion regardless.

Whether things are going well or not.

Whether you are standing still or moving forward.

So you might as well stay true to yourself.

After all, you live for yourself – not for someone else.

Living instead of surviving

I recently had a reading from a medium who has been in my life for years.

Someone who guides me when I don't know what to do myself.

The message I received moved me deeply:

I am allowed to live more for the future.

To enjoy more.

To receive more.

To trust more in what I have already built.

Not only dreaming big (which I already do),

but also letting success sink in.

It was conveyed to me very clearly that my parents are there.

That they support me.

That they are saying: go ahead, live, we are behind you.

And whether you believe in that or not, that is perfectly fine.

For me, it brings peace.

The feeling that I don't have to do it alone.

Obstacles… my middle name

Something very special is happening this year.

In February, a collaboration starts that a few years ago I honestly would have thought: I will never manage that.

And yet… it is now at my doorstep.

Next week, mid-January, I have an important meeting.

One of those meetings where you feel: this could be something big.

And yes, I find that exciting.

But this time, not paralyzing tension,

rather a quiet confidence.

If this works out (and everything in me says it will),

then "she believed she could, so she did"

is not just a beautiful phrase,

but more than accomplished.

And honestly…

if there is anyone who has experience with obstacles, it is me.

Can a person have obstacles?

For some, it is a phase.

For me, it sometimes feels like my middle name. 😉

Loss. Doubt. Fear. Responsibility.

Getting back up. Moving on again.

And still continuing to believe.

Not because it was always easy.

But because deep down I kept feeling:

there is more within me.

The power of small words

What touches me time and again are the stories I get from others.

Women who have studied for years,

had a university degree in their pocket,

but were stuck deep down inside,

and eventually chose something that truly fits them.

Like starting a dog grooming salon.

Women who have lost weight,

but above all have started looking at themselves differently.

Mothers who found the strength to support their children,

precisely because they did not fit into the system.

Because they felt: my child is allowed to be who they are.

And so often I hear then:

“Those words helped me.”

“That affirmation gave me just the push I needed.”

That is why affirmations are not a trend to me.

They are anchors.

Soft words with punch.

Reminders of who you are, when you briefly forget.

Why do I wear them?

I don't wear my affirmation bracelets because I am lacking something.

But because they help me remember.

To look ahead.

To not be afraid.

To do what is right for me.

She believed she could, so she did

keeps me connected to my dreams.

Just fucking do it

gives me the courage to go.

For those reading this:

Maybe you recognize yourself in this.

Maybe you are also at a point where you feel:

there is more within me.

Then I hope you take this with you:

you don't have to make it big.

You don't have to do it perfectly.

But you are allowed to choose yourself.

Again and again.

Living for the future.

With softness.

With guts.

Love,

Vanessa
